KP Sac Tower Installation Instructions

The 96” w by 36” h by 4” d wall sculpture is made up of 10 sections. Wavy III is shipped in two boxes: box 1 holds sections 1-5, box 2 holds the other 5 sections, 6-10.

Box 2 contains the pattern to be used to install it on the wall. It is taped onto the top edge of the foam core in Box 2 with green tape. Box 2 also contains these instructions that are taped onto the top edge of the foam core with green tape.

Please note for Wavy III, I soldered all the sections so they are stronger and will not move.

Steps:

  1. Remove the foam core structure from the boxes using the handles.

  2. Remove the yellow twist ties that keep the sections attached to the cardboard structure.

  3. Remove each section from the foam core structure. Note that there are loose wires sticking out from the back of each section attached with pink twist ties. These will be used to attach the side of the sections that sticks out from the wall to the wall.

  4. Carefully cut the orange tape holding the bubble wrap onto each section being careful not to scratch the rocks. Remove the bubble wrap.

  5. Note that when handling the sections, please hold by wires not rocks. For the longer sections, please use two hands to pick them up so they don’t warp. Note that the wires of the armatures are soldered so they won’t move around.

  6. Tape the pattern on the wall in the desired location. The pattern is marked with “Top” and “Bottom” and “Left” and “Right” to indicate orientation.

  7. The sections are numbered on the pattern. The black lines indicate the left edge of the section where it is attached and lays flat against the wall. The purple line indicates where the right side that sits away from the wall is located. Each section indicates which end is the top via the placement of the green tape which is always at the top.

  8. Attach the sections to the wall on top of the pattern corresponding to each section. The sections should be attached with clips in the cutout out sections in the pattern labeled “clip”. The size of the clips I used to mark off each cutout were approximately 3/8” by about 5/8” long, the smaller the clip, the better.* Attach screws to the wall in the cross hairs marked “screw”. The tops of the rocks should not stick out more than 4” from the wall. (The loose wires that are sticking out from the backs of the sections will attach to these screws once the pattern is removed.)

  9. Note that two armatures (#5 and #8) end part way down the pattern and do not extend from top to bottom -- their tips are marked with a chevron. All of the other armatures extend from the top to the bottom of the oval and their positions can be followed as they appear on the pattern.

  10. Remove the pattern by carefully tearing it out from underneath the sections.

  11. Attach the wires sticking out from the backs of the sections to the screws. Note that about a few sections have a thick wire sticking out that will be perpendicular to the wall when installed, this keeps the section away from the wall at the right distance.

  12. I tried to solder the rocks to armature as solidly as possible but some of them may twist a bit. They won’t come out but some of them *may* rotate out of alignment a little. If you could check the alignment of the rocks after installation to see if they are aligned with the vertical spines of the armature. If not, gently twist them so they align. Also, the dark blue rocks (the smallest ones) should cover the joint. They can also be gently adjusted if they move out of alignment during installation. Thanks!

  13. I would really appreciate it if you could take a photo after its installed and before the plexiglass case is installed. Or perhaps Carli could take one.

  14. Thanks for all of your help!!!

Please see this link for photos of what it should look like after its installed:
